More than a few opened sometimes slower than Tiger. Then I remembered a fix! sudo update_prebinding -debug -root / -force Input your admin password (or root if your have a root). Whatever it takes to get the sudo working. Afterwards, run a few programs to test. They will spring to life. I noticed a few (acrobat, safari) still had to be opened at least once then from there on; Watch out. Besides, it's never a bad idea to update your prebinding anyway.
